3 Liverpool Churches to close

It was announced today from the pulpit that three Liverpool Churches from within one Pastoral area (Deanery)are to close at Easter 2011. A brief note from Archbishop Patrick Kelly announced the closure of Our Lady of Good Help, Wavertree, St Paschal Baylon and St Gregory’s in Netherley. There doesn't seem to be any mention of this on the Archdiocesan website.

URGENT: Help Stop LGBT murders in Brazil!

On March 2nd a surveillance camera captured the brutal execution-style murder of Priscila, a 22-year old travesti/trans person in Brazil (Belo Horizonte). Brazil has the highest murder rate of trans people in the world.

Activists in Brazil are working with members of Parliament to pass a historic Anti-Homophobia law that would give LGBT Brazilians equal rights under the law, and call for more serious punishment of potential hate crimes. Will you take a moment to ask Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff to stand with members of her own party and push for this desperately needed measure? It only takes one minute and will make a huge difference. Click here.
